AT UNLOCK, A PARISIAN COUPLE BRINGS A DESIGN-MINDED APPROACH TO WYNWOOD, COMBINING SERIOUS COACHING, SOPHISTICATED INTERIORS AND RECOVERY UNDER ONE ROOF.

Miami has rarely needed convincing that looking good and feeling good belong in the same conversation. This fall, two Parisians are taking that premise to Wynwood.

UNLOCK is a 2,700-square-foot boutique performance gym where serious training meets European polish, with an infrared sauna, cold plunge, and a juice bar completing the post-workout equation.

The concept comes from husband-and-wife duo Pierrick Dubosq and Eléonore Merlo, who met in business school 12 years ago. Dubosq eventually traded business for barbells, spending eight years as a personal trainer, while Merlo built a career in communications and social media. Opening a gym together had long been the plan. Finding Miami gave it an address.

The couple initially considered Los Angeles, but a vacation here three years ago changed their thinking. “We fell in love with the city: with the weather, the beach, the mentality, the mindset,” they said.

They also noticed something familiar to anyone awake in Miami before breakfast: wellness here is not relegated to an hour at the gym. “You wake up at five or six, and you already see people running on the beach or working out,” Dubosq said.

What they didn’t see was a place that combined serious performance training with the level of design and hospitality they wanted. Between bare-bones gyms and immaculate studios offering limited equipment, they saw room for something in between.

UNLOCK is their answer: premium strength-and-conditioning equipment, private coaching, small-group sessions and a substantial recovery component, all within an environment where aesthetics have been given nearly as much consideration as performance.

Waxed concrete, warm wood, custom equipment, branded mats, towels and smoothie cups are all part of the visual language. Merlo oversees brand and creative direction, while Dubosq leads a coaching philosophy centered on measurable, individualized progress.

UNLOCK won’t operate as a traditional open gym. Access comes through an appointment with a trainer or a booked small-group class, preserving the privacy and attention central to the concept. Whether someone is training for a marathon, looking to get leaner, or simply hoping to feel stronger, the founders want the experience to be rigorous without becoming intimidating.

They also envision UNLOCK as something beyond a place to exercise. As Miami’s social habits increasingly make room for wellness, longevity, and self-care, the couple sees an opportunity to create community around that shift, with events and collaborations exploring nutrition, recovery and emerging longevity treatments.

“Fitness trends come and go,” Dubosq said. “Real coaching has always been around and will always be around.”

Dubosq and Merlo envision additional locations, apparel, drinks and a broader lifestyle brand. But first comes Wynwood, and the proposition at the center of UNLOCK: that serious training, thoughtful design and genuine hospitality don’t have to exist in separate rooms.
