Before venturing into a real estate career with Berkshire Hathaway in early 2022, Michael Buttacavoli enjoyed a remarkable 12-year professional golf stint that took him around the globe. A local in the breezy paradise of Miami Beach, the pro golfer is as comfortable handling multi-million listings as he is playing on windy courses. Although he officially traded his clubs for keys, golf remains his greatest passion. Here, Buttacavoli shares his top four favorite golf courses, near and far.

Campo Olímpico de Golfe
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL

This golf course was designed for the 2016 Summer Olympics, and I love its spectacular, well-thought-out design. I had the privilege of playing in this course for the Brazil Open as part of the PGA Tour Latinoamérica schedule. Playing tournaments on this course is both exhausting and amazing. The direction of the wind completely changes how some holes are played. Suddenly, sand traps that weren’t on your mind are right where you are trying to hit it.

Muirfield
GULLANE, SCOTLAND

One of my most cherished memories is my first taste of golf in Scotland at Muirfield. This course, consistently ranked among the top 15 in the world, left an indelible mark on me. It’s a place I yearn to revisit, a place that symbolizes my love for the game and my desire to explore more links golf courses.

Teeth of the Dog
CASA DE CAMPO, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

The Dominican Republic is a hidden gem for golf enthusiasts. This course in Casa de Campo provides some challenging holes along the water. I won my first tournament here on PGA Tour Lationamérica in 2014 in a three-hole playo™. This golf course will always hold a special place in my memory.

LaGorce Country Club
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA

Although I was born and raised in Miami Beach, I grew up on the 10th hole in LaGorce Country Club; I consider the club an extension of my family. I fell in love with the game here. I sometimes forget how lucky I am to be a member of such a special place. You can play a great golf course, stay at five-star hotels, and eat at Michelin-rated restaurants.
