NEXT WAVE

Gaby Palmisano is bringing a fresh take to Miami’s wellness scene with palmi + sano, a heated pilates, yoga, and sculpt studio opening in Wynwood. At just 25, she’s blending her background in dance, athletics, and event curation to create a space where mindful movement meets creative expression. From red-light therapy flows to pottery classes, her vision is a sanctuary for the body, mind, and soul.

What inspired you to open your own studio so young? Movement has always been part of my life. My mom was a ballerina, my sister a yoga teacher, and I grew up in modern dance and circus training. In college, I was a competitive athlete until burnout and injury pushed me toward pilates. It became my rehab and my revelation. Later, working with global wellness brands showed me the impact of an inspiring, welcoming studio.

Who is your biggest role model? My mom. She ran businesses, volunteered, and raised a family while keeping the discipline of her ballet roots. From her, I learned that passion and persistence can take you anywhere. I’m also inspired by Starr Hawkins, a Miami fitness pioneer who guided me through my first pilates certification. Her energy, creativity, and focus on uplifting others shaped my vision for the studio.

What’s the mission behind palmi + sano? To bring together movement, longevity, and recovery for body, mind, and soul. “Palmi” means “hands” in Italian, honoring touch and movement. “Sano” means “wholesome,” celebrating community. We offer sculpt, pilates, and yoga, plus creative workshops and artist residencies. Our heated Wynwood studio will be a warm, light-filled sanctuary with local art and space for connection after class.

Why Miami? Miami is home. Wynwood’s creative pulse makes it the perfect setting for a studio that blends movement and art. This is our root studio, inspired by the grounding energy of the root chakra, and the first step toward future locations across the country.

What can guests expect? We have about 15 instructors specializing in pilates, sculpt, and yoga, with small classes for a personal touch. I’ll be leading heated-mat pilates and sculpt sessions with slow, controlled movements in gentle heat to strengthen the core, lengthen muscles, and energize the whole body.

What does wellness mean to you? Wellness is the pursuit of betterment—physically, mentally, and spiritually. Our logo’s three overlapping circles represent these dimensions, with palmi + sano at the center.
