Local culinary costars Jamila and Akino West pull from global sources for a fare that’s all of their own.
Rosie’s, a darling of a restaurant once located in Overtown, started to earn buzz almost immediately when it debuted as a pop-up in 2020. Located at Jamila and Akino West’s now-erstwhile Copper Door B&B it earned major accolades from the national press. Two years later the couple, with 30 years of international hospitality experience between them, reopened the popular restaurant as a 70-seater in Little River. At the moment, the eatery is a completely outdoor experience under the shade of a gigantic banyan tree, while the Wests renovate its permanent home in a historic house nearby. Set to open this July, be sure to check out the special summer menu and Saturday night dinners that are an audacious reflection of the Wests’ culinary influences.
