How FIFA is planting roots in the Magic City.

In case you are unaware, according to Miami-based FIFA agent and soccer entrepreneur Alex Avellanet, “Miami has become a global soccer hub, thanks to Inter Miami and Messi.”
Need another reason to celebrate Miami’s soccer standing? Leave it to FIFA to deliver big by setting up shop and rolling out the red carpet for its fans everywhere. That’s right: FIFA is moving in with its World Cup 26TM headquarters nestled in Coral Gables. And the organization is not stopping there. FIFA inked a deal with Miami Dade College (MDC) to offer students internships at its swanky new office. Plus, the organization is bringing top exhibits from the FIFA Museum in Zurich, Switzerland, to Miami’s iconic Freedom Tower.
“The FIFA Museum in the Freedom Tower shows its commitment to our city’s diversity,” Avellanet added. “This shift not only brings FIFA closer to the community but also enhances its role in education and cultural exchange. Plus, having FIFA’s office right in our backyard is beyond exciting!”
Starting in 2025, the historic Freedom Tower will be transformed into a hub of football history and high-tech wizardry. Imagine stepping into a world where the past and future of football collide, offering visitors an experience like no other. With the U.S., Canada, and Mexico gearing up to host the FIFA World Cup 26TM, this exhibit is not just about soccer; it’s about celebrating the vibrant soccer history of the Americas in a way that’s never been done before.
But wait, there’s more! The deal with MDC includes a guest lecture series featuring FIFA leaders and global football stars, offering MDC students and the public a rare behind-the-scenes look at the world’s favorite sport. “The internship program for MDC students at FIFA’s new offices in Miami will provide students the opportunity to gain substantive hands-on experience and forge connections that will last throughout their careers,” said Madeline Pumariega, MDC’s President. “They will also hear from FIFA and global football professionals as part of a new guest speaker series.”
FIFA’s big move into South Florida through this lively partnership is about more than soccer. It’s about turning Miami into a megalopolis of culture and education. This initiative is a shining example of how football can unite people and spark excitement, setting the stage for an even brighter future in Miami’s dynamic sports scene.
