4 A.M. – My Creative Hour / Monday through Friday, I wake up at 4 a.m. I spend the first three hours reading the five newspapers I have delivered every day and working. It’s when I feel clearest, most creative and most productive.
THE MASTER – Gio Ponti / One of the greatest influences on the way I think isn’t a book, film or piece of music. It’s Villa Planchart in Caracas, designed by Gio Ponti. Ponti conceived nearly every element of the house, from the architecture and interiors to the furniture, lighting, decorative objects, and tableware. It inspired me to think bigger and taught me the power of having a complete vision. It’s not about creating just one part of an experience, but considering every detail and bringing the entire world around it to life.
THE AFTERGLOW – What I Want People to Take Away / When people leave a Faena Rose event, I want them to feel inspired by the experience, whether it was a film screening, dance or music performance, dinner, masterclass or conversation. Just as importantly, I want them to be excited about the new patrons they’ve met and eager to deepen those connections. For me, the experience shouldn’t necessarily end when the evening does.
FAR EAST – My Lesson in Hospitality / Asia completely changed the way I think about hospitality. The level of service is incredible throughout the region and has influenced the way I think about creating experiences for others.
MIAMI – Why Here, Why Now / Miami is constantly reinventing itself, but for me, what it offers is remarkably simple: the quality of life here is unparalleled.
ON MY WALL – Brendon Reis’s Biker / A beautiful painting by one of my favorite artists, Brendon Reis, called Biker tells my story in so many ways. It speaks to my love of discovering and supporting emerging talent, as well as art, travel, urban culture, and collecting.
