Helmed by George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg – Yabu Pushelberg, the award-winning design practice behind The Miami Beach EDITION and the SLS LUX Brickell, focuses on multiple layers of the human experience delivered through interior design, landscapes, lighting, and furniture. We check in with the globetrotters, who are too busy to be resting on their laurels.
YOUR MOST SHOW-STOPPING PROJECT
It’s impossible to choose just one as each project has its own meaning but what stands out is our project with Bruno Mars, a cocktail lounge and jazz bar called The Pinky Ring at Bellagio Las Vegas. Bruno trusted us as collaborators to design the brand collateral, interiors, and lighting. – GY
YOUR “SECRET SAUCE”
It sounds bold, but our product department! We are in constant awe of how the team dreams and translates that to lighting that serves a purpose but also invigorates a space. Miles, which is part of a product collaboration we executed with Lasvit, is too good to be true as it celebrates the inherent beauty of cut crystal paired with the versatility of its textures while offering an unparalleled quality of light. – GY
HOME IS
We split our time between Toronto and New York and spend our summers on Long Island. Each of our homes has a different personality, but Amagansett really encapsulates how we move through life as innkeepers. We always have guests out there, our family, friends, people we met on our travels. – GY Two summers ago we hosted every team from our studios for a weekend. It was go, go, go, but it brought us closer after the pandemic. Bringing people together is the essence of home for us. – GP
DREAM TRAVELS
We are on our way to Sri Lanka right now for a retreat and we haven’t been back here in a decade, so we are ready to swoon all over again. -GP From Sri Lanka we are going to Brazil, Manila, and Amsterdam for new projects. (Shh!) Work takes us on the road often. We use it as an opportunity to carve out days to explore our surroundings.- GY
IN DEVELOPMENT
We have a big box of secrets we can’t talk about just yet, but one that tops my mind opens this fall in Guadalajara, Mexico. – GY
