THE ART OF STANDING OUT

Paris Brosnan has embarked on a route rarely trodden by the progeny of the famous (in his case that of Pierce Brosnan’s to be exact,) wielding the tools of his generation —photography, filmmaking, and visual art — with a goal that’s less about frivolity and more about purpose. Encouraged by his father to explore the medium, Paris lends his voice to issues that matter, crafting a graphic vernacular that is stirring many in the best way possible.

Your first word. Other than mom or dad, I think it was “hat.”

Art you grow up around… Matisse, Renoir, Gaugin, and lots of art my dad appreciated. In our house in Kauai, I remember seeing a lot of work by local artists such as Avi Kariaty.

Hidden talents? I like making music.

Artist who moves you the most? My dad’s work probably inspires me the most.

Your latest painting in three words. Colorful, controlled, chaos.

What posters did you have up in your room as a kid? Chance the Rapper, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Mick Jagger and some surfing ones.

Color you would never use on a canvas? I rarely use brown.

What’s on your bedside table? Water, books, eye mask, late-night snacks.

Drink you can’t you live without? Gatorade and coconut water.
